I TIMOTHY 6:17-19 17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.

THINK RIGHT - DO RIGHT

PROVERBS 23:7 7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is. He says to you, “Eat and drink!” But his heart is not with you.

6
THREE REASONS: Rich people don’t like to admit they are rich.
7
II CORINTHIANS 8:9 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
8
II CORINTHIANS 9:11 11 you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
9
THREE REASONS: 2. Rich people are plagued by discontentment.
10
ECCLESIASTES 5:10-12 10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity. 11 When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look on? 12 The sleep of the working man is pleasant, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach of the rich man does not allow him to sleep.
11
THREE REASONS: 3. Rich people live with a false sense of security.
12
PROVERBS 18:11 11 A rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own imagination.
13
DO RIGHT 1. I will be grateful.
14
I CHRONICLES 29:10-13 10 So David blessed the Lord in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, O Lord God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.
15
DO RIGHT 2. I will lead with generosity.
16
MATTHEW 6:21 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
17
ACTS 20:35 35 In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
18
DO RIGHT 3. I will put my hope in God.
19
PROVERBS 30:8-9 8 Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, 9 That I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or that I not be in want and steal, And profane the name of my God.
