3 COLOR WHEEL COLOR (aka HUE) – The property of color that distinguishes one gradation from another and gives it its name.

4 COLOR WHEEL COMPLEMENTARY COLORS – Two colors which are directly opposite each other on the color wheel, meaning they are in extreme contrast with each other. (R-G, V-Y, B-O, etc.)

5 COLOR WHEEL MONOCHROMATIC COLORS - One color which is modified by changing the values and saturation of the hue by additions of black or white.

6 COLOR WHEEL INTERMEDIATE COLORS – Colors produced by mixing a primary color and the adjacent secondary color on the color wheel.

7 COLOR WHEEL PIGMENT – A powdered coloring material for paint, crayons, chalks and ink.

8 SATURATION – The purity, vividness or intensity of a color.
COLOR WHEEL SATURATION – The purity, vividness or intensity of a color.

9 COLOR WHEEL SHADE – Variations in the dark and light of color made by adding black to the color.

10 COLOR WHEEL TINT – A lighter value of a hue made by adding a small amount of another color to it, usually white.

23 Student Planning… Create a design for a color wheel.
Have a different template for each of the three components of the wheel. (P, S, I) Develop a “key” so viewers understand what each means. The colors may be painted directly on the wheel or pasted. Do some sketches and explore interests and hobbies you have. Be creative and have fun!!!
