What role have humans played in this environmental issue?
Humans have been destroying habitats and hives of the honeybees which drastically effects the bee’s ability to pollinate and reproduce. Humans have been acting as a hazard towards the bees because they have been using pesticides that are very toxic in agricultural activities. Because of this, bees are becoming infected with toxins, which can lead 25% to 80% decline in population in that ecosystem. Construction can also greatly affect the bee population because of the disturbing of habitats in forests.

What are the causes of this environmental issue?
Agriculture has destroyed the bee’s hives, forcing them to move to another location. Large tractors remove flowers and hives from nature and as a result, the bee environment is demolished. Fossil fuels in the air cause bees to be unable to smell the flowers with pollen from a range. Toxic pesticides can harm the bee environment. Even though it is against the law, farmers continue to neglect the rules for their own benefit. Diseases are spread among a colony of bee because of international trade and commerce.

What are the effects of this environmental issue on the environment and human health?
Plants cannot be fertilized without any pollinators to help them survive. Agricultural production is decreased by nearly 30% without enough pollinators. Various species of plants are becoming endangered (about 150 species) because invasive honeybees are taking over native bee environments. The process of crop production is slowing down, which enlarges the prices of fruits and vegetables by approximately $2500 per farm. The quality of the fruits, vegetables, and legumes (fed to livestock) have decreased which affects the nutrition of humans.
5
What are the potential impacts of this environmental issue on the future?
Global warming is speeding up because of the lack of biodiversity which could threaten humanity. Prices will continue to increase if this continues, which could increase the rate of unemployment and poverty. The population of flowers and wildlife across the U.S. will decrease because flowers will not be pollinated which decreases the amount of food left for wildlife.
