2. Judgment Seat of Christ
2 Cor. 5:1-10 God Himself prepares Christians for their heavenly home by giving us His Holy Spirit as a guarantee while living here on earth vs. 5
Walking by faith is the same as walking by His Spirit, which in turn results in good deeds.
ALL believers must appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ to give an account vs. 10
Rom. 14:7-12 Live for the Lord, not for yourselves
I Cor. 3:13 ALL believers should be building the truth into one another’s lives.
Each man’s work will become evident

3. WHEN is the Judgment Seat?
I Thess. 4: Rapture, so it must be after that
Rev. 19:7-21 Jesus’ 2nd Coming, so it must be before that because we are clothed in white and part of the Lord’s army
Rev. 22:12 “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.”
This may mean it comes AFTER His return to earth, because there are differing views, or it could mean, in context, that He is reiterating His roles, names and duties

4. What might the rewards be?
Luke 19:11-27 Parable of the minas and the Master
Slaves were called to give an account for what they had done with what the Master had entrusted them with. The Master’s treasure
To everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have will be taken away. vs. 26
Those entrusted with the Master’s treasure, who have been faithful, will rule! And Jesus will rule
2 Tim. 1:14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you. The Gospel of Jesus Christ

5. Judgment of the Nations
Matt. 25:32 Immediately following Jesus’ 2nd coming, He judges between the wicked and the righteous of the nations from the LAST 3 ½ years, before His return to earth.
They are judged according to their treatment of Israel (My brethren)
Some are goats, some are sheep

6. Resurrection to Judgment
Dan.12:1-2 Some Jews will awake and be resurrected: some to everlasting life, some to disgrace and everlasting contempt
John 5:28-29 An hour is coming when Jesus will call ALL of the dead to come from their graves and face a resurrection of life, or a resurrection of judgment
What is the basis for the judgement? Deeds
One’s deeds come from his character. Christians have the Holy Spirit inside which produces good deeds, but unbelievers produce evil deeds.
What about moral people that are good, but not saved?

7. Resurrection of Life/Death
Daniel 7:9-11 The 4th beast, the little horn, the beast of Revelation is thrown into burning fire
This kingdom is thrown into the burning fire
Rev This judgment is based on things WRITTEN in the books, according to their deeds
Does a resurrection of life and a resurrection of judgment occur at the same time?
1st resurrection, Rev. 20:4-5, is for believers only
“The rest of the dead” are raised for judgment of eternal fire. The 2nd death. The Great White Throne Judgment Rev. 20:11-15

8. Punishment levels?
Matt. 10 & 11 In the day of judgment it will be more tolerable for some than for others
Matt. 10:15 The cities in Israel who saw Jesus and His miracles will suffer greater punishment than even those in Sodom and Gomorrah, who only had Lot as a witness for God
ALL unbelievers will go to Hades when they die and then into the Lake of Fire at the Great White Throne judgment.
Mark 12 & Luke 20 Scribes will receive greater condemnation
John 19 Judas’s sin was greater than Pilate’s sin

9. Greater defined
Greater: megas – large, great in the widest sense Things to be esteemed highly for their importance.
Zod. Greater in cost, solemn.
John 19:10-11 “You, Pilate, would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin”
“For this reason”: because authority had been given to Pilate, but also to Judas, by God.
Rev. 1:17-18; Luke 12:5 Jesus has the keys to death and Hades. God alone has the authority to cast men into hell.

10. Hades and the Lake of Fire
Hades is the PRESENT place of the unbelieving dead
At the END of the 1,000 year reign, at the Great White Throne/Judgment of the dead, Hades will be thrown into the Lake of Fire along with Death.
The 2nd death: the Lake of Fire. Those whose names are NOT written in the Book of Life, will experience the 2nd death.
Matt. 25:41 The Lake of Fire was prepared for Satan and his angels.
Death is the LAST enemy Jesus abolishes, then comes the End. Kingdom handed over to the Father.
New Heaven and New Earth for eternity

11. Exhortations from Revelation
He is coming quickly
Heed the words of the prophecy of this book and you will be blessed
Worship ONLY God. The time is near
He will render to every man according to what he has done
Wash your robes!!! You will be blessed
Do not add or take away from this book. Plagues are promised if you do.
God will take away your part from the Tree of Life and from the holy city if you do.
He is coming quickly.
