Re: Year 10 Work Experience Placements
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your son’s mandatory two week work experience placement is set to begin on the week beginning 4th July At this time he should be actively looking to get a placement secured. We encourage all our students to find their own placements merely due to the fact that it gives them the opportunity to find something in an area they have an interest in and somewhere convenient for them to travel to.
As a parent/guardian, you have an important role to play in the success of your son’s work experience placement. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to urge you to help your son to find a placement he will not only enjoy but also find useful.
Please find attached an ‘Own Find’ placement form that should be filled in and returned to me as soon as you have secured a placement. There will be many students seeking placements for the same period of time, so the earlier a placement is secured, the better.

5. Job Application Letters Remember that this is a formal letter
A job application letter is a formal letter. It should be well-presented and have:
an introductory paragraph giving your reason for writing
a middle paragraph telling the employer why you want the job, what is special about you and what you can offer
a final paragraph explaining the actions you've taken (eg My CV is enclosed) or that you want to request (eg I would be grateful if you could send me an application form).

6. A Good Work Experience Interview
Find out what the organisation does
Think about the questions you may be asked
Rehearse your answers
Wear appropriate clothing for the job
Arrive on time
Be enthusiastic and polite
Thank them for interviewing you

7. A Poor Work Experience Interview
Show no interest in the organisation
Show no hint of interest or enthusiasm
Take no care with your appearance
Arrive late
Let them know you didn’t really want to work there
Don’t thank them for interviewing you.

10. Work Experience Certificate
All students successfully completing their placements will receive a Work Experience Certificate provided by the borough of Camden
It will form a part of your NRA
It can be used as evidence of experience in the world of work
