Room 303 Expectations & Procedures

Class Expectations Students are to bring all required materials to class. Student must be in seat and working on the warm-up when the bell rings. Students are to follow directions the first time they are given. Students will raise their hand to be recognized before speaking or getting out of their seat. Students will not throw objects across the room. Students should not eat, drink, or chew gum in class. Exceptions Water is permitted in a clear bottle. Snacking is only permitted during Block 3 snack time.

Being Prepared Students will come every day with their math binder and all required supplies for the course. Students will sharpen pencils and check for missed work before the bell rings.

Permitted Writing Utensils
All math work MUST be done in pencil. This does NOT include colored pencils. Mechanical pencils are preferred. Pens or colored pencils are allowed ONLY for grading work or for color coding notes. Highlighters may come in handy during note taking as well.

Entering Class After entering the room, students may not leave without permission. Students may not leave books and materials outside the classroom for any reason. Upon entering, students should go to their assigned seats and prepare for class. The Papers helper will pass out the warm-up. Begin working on the warm-up for the day. The Teacher’s Assistant will take attendance during this time.

Exiting Class The teacher dismisses the class, NOT the bell.
Do not start packing up until instructed to do so. Students will be dismissed by the quietest groups. Students are responsible for cleaning the area around their desks before leaving the room. The Director of Maintenance will check to make sure the room is clean before students are dismissed.

Tardy? Place your tardy slip in the turn in bin and check your folder for any missed work. Sit down quietly and begin working on the current assignment.

Maintaining Your Math Notebook
Keep the following in your notebook: Course Organizer Unit Organizers Class Notes Warm-Ups Homework Worksheets ALL materials must be dated and in the correct order.

Papers Write your name and date on the top of every paper.
Name Date Write your name and date on the top of every paper. Put your name in the top left portion of your paper. The date should be in the top right portion. Please write legibly so anyone who is checking over your paper is able to understand what you mean.

Classroom Hand Signals
One Finger Need to sharpen pencil Two Fingers Need to get a tissue or other supplies from the Student Center Three Fingers Need to use the restroom or get water Once given permission, be sure to sign out by the door and take the paw print hall pass. Students are NOT permitted in the hallway without the pass.

Walking in the Hallways As a Class
Students are expected to walk on the right side of the hallway at all times. There will be NO TALKING in line. Other students are still in class. All class rules still apply in the hallway.

Give Me Five When you hear “Give Me Five,” this means:
Eyes are watching. Ears are listening. Lips are zipped. Hands are still. Feet are quiet.

Drills Students will stay quiet during drills and follow the instructions from the teacher. If students need to walk in the hallway, they will follow the Walking in the Hallways as a Class procedures.

Classroom Jobs Teacher’s Assistant Papers Supplies Manager Messenger
Takes attendance, assists teacher whenever necessary Papers Passes out and collects papers Supplies Manager Passes out and collects supplies. Makes sure that all supplies are returned and organized. Messenger Delivers papers to their destination Director of Maintenance Makes sure that the classroom is clean before students are permitted to leave. This does NOT mean that the D.o.M. has to clean up the room. Erases boards when necessary.
