W.I.N Time Students are grouped based on Kindergarten assessments and AimsWeb screenings Small group centers, 3-4 times a week Activities meet the needs of each child to reinforce skills, remediate, and enrich Students may work within their own classroom or travel to the opposite kindergarten classroom for this center time. Groups are flexible and fluid.

Home Folders Need to come to school every day
Remember to check them for important notes, homework, homework chart, stoplight paper, and work being returned (Please leave stoplight in folder for the entire month.) Please empty the “Leave at Home” side daily – use this for decorating the fridge! Encourage responsibility by allowing your student to place papers in his or her folder & to place the folder in his or her backpack each night

Homework Sent home most Mondays-Fridays
Friday homework will vary based on student need Refer to the homework sheet and class newsletter for the week’s assignments, themes, events, and due dates will be sent electronically, ensure I have current notify me tonight if you need a paper copy instead Remember names on all homework Should be completed in pencil unless noted otherwise Please check it to make sure it is done neatly and correctly~ we don’t want to reinforce wrong answers! A great way to keep up with what we are doing in school. All homework is used to reinforce skills we have completed within the classroom and should take no more than 10 minutes.

Snack Snack should be small and nutritious
Chips, cookies, donuts etc. are not considered healthy choices. No snacks containing peanuts or tree nuts If your child forgets snack or has an unhealthy snack, I will send a note. Encourage responsibility by allowing your child to pack with you We take a bathroom break to clean hands before snack or use sanitizer. No snack for PM Wednesdays!

Book Orders Scholastic Book Club
Build a library for your child at home Books are on a K-1 reading level. Higher levels will also be available online to view order forms. Checks only please, payable to “Scholastic Book Clubs” *Please combine all “pamphlets” into 1 check for payment. Form and check due date will be indicated on colored slip, homework chart, and in our newsletter Help build our classroom library and supplies through bonus points. -Books are awarded for online ordering

Star Students Monday – share character’s Journal
Tuesday – family photographs (3-4 only) Wednesday – share decorated personalized star Thursday – favorite SMALL stuffed animal -animal will “eat” snack with the special person Friday-share poster *A reminder note is sent home in George or Clifford’s bag. *Please take good care of the activities that are sent home. They are for all students to enjoy throughout the school year.

Helping Hands Please sign up to be a Mystery Reader
At each teacher’s table Wednesdays for AM, Fridays for PM Please arrive at designated times or a few minutes early. Times are incorporated into our daily schedule. Adults will not be permitted into the classroom if you arrive early. Adult chooses book to read to class minutes is allotted for reading time. No edible treats for distribution Looking for parents who can come in to help during center times on a regular basis Our Room Mom will be creating a monthly schedule based on help available. Centers are scheduled for: AM: Tuesday-Friday PM: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

In order to come in on a regular basis, help with parties, and/or attend field trips ALL clearances are NEEDED. Visit the district website or our classroom websites for more information. Some clearances take 3-6 weeks to be returned! These will remain on file and “follow” your child throughout their time here at Willow Lane! In order to Mystery Read, a notarized affidavit must be on file in our office. Thank you in advance for your dedication to our classroom. You assistance enables us to promote child success!

Distribution of invitations:
Entire class All girls or all boys Class treats are permitted NO edible treats BIRTHDAY BOOKS! Wrapped or unwrapped Shared Personalized Kept in classroom reading area for student enjoyment

Monthly School Spirit Assemblies
Most are in the AM PM students are invited to attend Must be supervised by a parent/guardian PM children may sit with the AM class, but a parent/guardian must be present Children are encouraged to wear their “Willow Wear” or school colors for spirit assemblies We will notify you, via newsletter when the assemblies, monthly and otherwise, are occuring.

Misc. Items Notes to the office:
Legible Child & Parent’s first and last name Room number Excuse notes need to be sent in within 3 days of returning after an absence. Vacation requests Pick-Up indicates WHO is picking child up Please send in a labeled oversized t-shirt for art by Friday if you haven’t done so “Me Pages” are due by September 9th. Examples are at each teacher’s table Parent-Teacher Conference sign-ups will be available through Signup Genius tomorrow. There is a link on the Willow Lane Website.

Continued… Going Green: Lightning Flash! Please reinforce at home:
Please reinforce at home: sneezing/coughing in elbow keeping fingers and other items OUT of mouth tying shoes taking off and putting on coats. Zipping, buttoning, and reversing sleeves trying first, before saying, “I can’t” following our classroom MONSTER RULES!
