His mother was a sculptor and his father was a graphic artist.
Studied art in New York City with Robert Henri (another famous artist).
Enjoyed painting urban landscapes and was inspired by taxis, storefronts and neon signs.
Died in 1964 (age 69).

2. Stuart Davis style
Davis’s paintings were abstract, but there was just enough realism in them that you could usually pick out what he was trying to convey.
He was influenced by the jazz culture, which took original melodies and changed them into something unique.

Think of some of the most memorable features of that place. For example, a uniquely shaped tree, the ocean, a tall skyscraper, a house. Make a list of 5-10 things you want to include in your collage.
Design your land or cityscape by cutting shapes out of paper and layering them on your paper in an abstract way.
