6 How to identify components in a design:
Apply Joints How to identify components in a design: Identifying components can be done using the Component Color Swatch under the Inspect panel. From our last session, we created multiple bodies from pre-existing features and during the creation of features. We also were able to create components from the bodies or while creating a feature. In this session we will understand the difference of a body and a component and how they behave in the design.

7 A component contains bodies only:
Apply Joints A component contains bodies only: The steering linkage appears as one component with multiple bodies.. Components are designed from several different features. Some of those features can be other bodies in the component.

8 How to apply joints to components in a design:
The stationary linkage displays as an assembly with multiple components. Each component contains bodies. Assemblies consist of components and bodies. The components contain bodies and possibly components, if they are a sub-assembly.

9 How to apply joints to components in a design:
Using the history shows the process already done. Joints place components together by faces, edges or end/ mid points. These constraints place the components accurately together to verify the design will fit together.

Joints can be applied to just about anything but work features (plane. point and axis). Most joints are related to holes, edges or faces. Right Click on Derby Steering Linkage and Copy the design Rename the design Derby Steering Linkage Edit Open the new design and right click on the body for the shaft. Interference will let you know if components are sharing the same space. Curvature Comb can analyze the tangencies of a curved edge. I will demonstrate the rest of the analysis options. Zebra analysis will analyze the smoothness going between surfaces, to pinpoint creases or other defects. Draft analysis shows angle draft from a specified direction.
