2 Overview HBI is a national leader of career training in the building industry. Through certified programs, mentoring, pre-apprenticeship training and job placement services, HBI prepares its students with the skills and experience they need for successful careers in the building industry.

3 Mission To advance and provide education, career development, training and placement of men and women serving the building industry.

4 Training HBI training combines technical and employability skills with basic academics. HBI students’ trade training is grounded in National Construction Skills Standards American National Standards Institute (ANSI) National Green Building Standards The programs are taught by experienced instructors through HBI’s Residential Construction Academy Series textbooks and instructional aides. All HBI Job Corps Pre-Apprenticeship programs and curriculum are approved through the Department of Labor (DOL).

5 Training (continued) HBI does more than provide job skills: It builds character and self-esteem, providing students with interpersonal skills they need to succeed on the job and in life. Along with technical skills, they learn: Leadership Sense of responsibility Time management Team work Effective communication

6 Graduates Upon completion, HBI offers graduates job placement and school-to-work transition assistance securing employment, housing and transportation as necessary. HBI places over 85 percent of its graduates in construction sector employment or additional training programs including registered apprenticeships.
