4 Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP)
one-year programme that offers a practice-oriented curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers to better prepare poly-bound N(A) students for entry into relevant Polytechnic Diploma courses an alternative to the Sec 5 year Diploma Programme at Polytechnics (3 Years) PFP (1 Year) Sec 5N(A) Take O-Level Alternative pathway Top N(A) students Sec 4(NA)

5 Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP)
The PFP will be offered by all five polytechnics More than 70% of Polytechnic Diploma courses will be offered under the PFP

6 Eligibility Criteria obtain an ELMAB3 (English + Math + Best 3 Subjects) aggregate not exceeding 11 points excluding CCA bonus points; minimum Grade 3 for each subject; and meet the subject-specific requirements of the courses they are applying for. Some courses may require relevant subjects to be less or equal to 3. Eligibility does not guarantee placement in a PFP course. Placement is subject to the availability of vacancies and in open competition with other eligible applicants based on merit.

7 Sec 4N(A) students who sit for GCE O-Level examination subjects in 2018 may use the following grade conversion table for computation of their ELMAB3 aggregates: GCE ‘O’ Level Grade Converted Grade A1-B3 1 B4-C6 2 D7 3

8 PFP : Students who fail or drop out from the PFP
Students who fail or drop out from the PFP can enrol in Higher Nitec courses at ITE Students who wish to pursue the O-Level Exam may be considered for re-admission or register as O-Level private candidates

11 ITE Direct Entry Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP)
Direct progression from a Higher Nitec course to a related Diploma course in Polytechnic. Suitable for students whose learning styles are more application-based and hands-on (70% practical training, 30% theoretical lessons) Skip the uncertainly of taking the GCE O-Level examinations and save one year.

Obtained an ELMAB3 aggregate of 19 points or better (excluding CCA bonus points)

18 Admission Criteria for JC - 2-year ‘A’ Level Course
L1R5 = 1st Language + Relevant 5 subjects L1R5 less than or equal to 20 (excluding Bonus points)

19 What is L1R5? L1 – English Language / Higher Mother Tongue (HMT)
R1 – Humanities R2 – Mathematics / Science R3 – Mathematics / Science / Humanities R4 – Any GCE ‘O’ Level Subject (except CCA) R5 – Any GCE ‘O’ Level Subject (except CCA) *To use HMT as L1, student must pass EL & HMT *If HMT is used for computation of L1R5, then MT cannot be used *To be eligible for HMT Bonus points (2 points), students must pass EL and HMT *CCA Bonus Points : A1/A2 – 2 points B3 to C6 – 1 point All Bonus points will only be considered if L1R5 of less than or equal to 20 is met

ELR2B2 = English + Relevant 2 subjects + Best 2 subjects ELR2B2 is less than or equal to 26 points including CCA* Bonus points *CCA cannot count as a subject but bonus point(s) for CCA is considered for overall computation

24 Retention Criteria Obtain an aggregate score of:
Not exceeding 21 points for ELMAB3 i.e. (ELMAB3 ≤ 21); or Not exceeding 14 points for ELB3 (English Language and best three other subjects) i.e. (ELB3 ≤ 14); or Not exceeding 14 points for MAB3 (Mathematics and best three other subjects) i.e. (MAB3 ≤ 14) Maths can be counted as one of the Best 3 subjects. English can be counted as one of the Best 3 subjects.
