2. Algebraic Expressions
Evaluate x – 5 + y if x = 15 and y = -7

3. Evaluate: if k = -2, n = -4, and p = 5.
-3[(-2)2 + 2(-4)]
-3(4 – 8)
-3(-4) 12

4. Absolute value Evaluate: If a = -2, b = -4, and c = 3.
Drop absolute value and replace
with ( ) after you do the absolute
value.

5. Linear Equations Solve the following:
x – 7 = 16
m + 12 = -5
k + 31 = 10

6. Solve:
4d = 36

7. Solve 8q – 15 = 49 8q = 64 6y + 8 = -5 q = 8 -6y -6y 6y = -13

9. Solve
4(x – 7) = 8x + 6
4x – 28 = 8x + 6
-28 = 4x + 6
-34 = 4x
