“Teaching and admonishing” Colossians 3:16
As we worship God John 4:24, Hebrews 12:28 Our worship builds us up Much of our worship focuses on gaining a better appreciation of God and His word – 2 Timothy 4:2, 2:15; 1 Timothy 4:6,11; cf. 1 Corinthians 14:15-19

Our text is addressing singing Our songs must be truthful and instructive (not just “praise songs”) John 4:24, Hebrews 12:28 Teaching – 2 Thess. 2:15 Admonishing – 1 Cor. 4:14 Colossians 1:28 NOTE: We are commanded to sing together! Also Ephesians 5:19

“Pray for one another” James 5:16
Prayer is how we communicate TO God Crucial in our lives, 1 Thess. 5:17, Ephesians 6:18, Luke 18:1 We pray for others – Romans 15:30, Ephesians 6:18-19, Hebrews 13:18, Colossians 4:12 James 5:13-17, our text bears this out
6
“Pray for one another” James 5:16
NOT limited to public prayers Most of our praying is done in private! Many things we can pray for one another – physical and spiritual. This WILL draw us closer together
7
“Confess to one another” James 5:16
Easy to say, difficult to do Confess – to admit or acknowledge something. Confessing our sins – needed for forgiveness 2 Corinthians 7:10-11, Proved yourself clear in this matter
8
“Confess to one another” James 5:16
Confession, first directed toward God – 1 John 1:9 Our text, to one another Matthew 5:23-24, 18:15-17, take care of sins with others. Confession to or from the offended Be willing to forgive – Matthew 6:14 Public sins should be addressed publicly How public? Make sure those involved know of your repentance/confession
9
“Confess to one another” James 5:16
What are we doing to make this confession possible? What does our demeanor show – cf. Ephesians 4:32, Col. 3:13, etc. Are we willing to totally forgive one who confesses sin? Do we intend to make matters more difficult for them? See 2 Corinthians 2:1-11
10
“Confess to one another” James 5:16
This confession is NOT about proving we are right or better, rather it is to provide support and encouragement to our brethren who are struggling! Can our brethren come to u in confidence? To “one another” doesn’t always mean everyone!
