Test book layout Two item types Selected Response Supported Performance Tasks Online Score Entry The pages of the CoAlt field test books are oriented so that the Test Examiner must administer the test while facing the student. The test book includes scripted text for the Test Examiner to read aloud to the student. There is two different types of items, selected response and supported performance tasks. We will show examples of both item types and how to administer each. After the Examiner is finished giving the student the CoAlt Assessment the Examiner will need to enter the student’s scores into PearsonAccess.

Administering the CoAlt Assessment: Chain of Custody
For all test materials before, during, and after test administration. Requirements: Secure storage SAC distributes materials to Test Examiners - Secure storage: CoAlt Test Examiners must account for and return test materials and individualized accommodations to the SAC for storage in a secure and locked location immediately after administration, at least on a daily basis. Test materials must not be stored in classrooms. SAC distributes materials to Test Examiners: The SAC is responsible for the distribution of test materials to CoAlt Test Examiners and for the collection of the test materials during the preparations or accommodations as well as on each day of testing. SACs will have Test Examiners sign the CoAlt materials out and back in once returned. Only materials for the student being assessed at that time should be distributed to the Test Examiner. -Due to the unique nature of the CoAlt: Science and Social Studies assessments, Test Examiners may need access to a student’s materials prior to the test’s administration in order to prepare any necessary accommodations and organize the provided student materials and manipulatives.

Procedures for the CoAlt Administration
Test Materials and Task Manipulatives For each subject, test books will have two unique forms: Form 015 Form 025 Each student must be assessed with the same book and corresponding manipulatives. Task manipulatives shrink-wrapped with each test book must be used with that specific test book. Keep test materials that were shrink-wrapped together. Your school will get an even distribution of each form for each subject. It is not required that the student takes the same form for each subject. Each student MUST be assessed with the same book and corresponding manipulatives per subject. The task manipulatives are shrink-wrapped together with the test book. Its important to keep the test materials that were shrink-wrapped, together.
9
Keep all materials together throughout the test administration.
Procedures for the CoAlt Administration Test Materials and Task Manipulatives continued Write the student’s full name on the cover of the test book. Write the student’s full name with a black marker on the secure return envelope. Cut apart the option cards for each performance task. Paper clip the cut-apart option cards to the corresponding student response page, then store them in the secure return envelope. In between testing sessions, task manipulatives need to be stored in the secure return envelope. Keep all materials together throughout the test administration. The Test Examiner needs to write the student’s full name on the cover of the test book and the secure return envelope. The Examiner will also need to cut apart the option cards or task manipulatives prior to the assessment, they then can be paper clipped to the corresponding student response page and stored in the secure return envelope. If someone other then the Test Examiner cuts apart the task manipulatives, that is ok but they need to be a district employee and have signed the security form. If task manipulatives are adapted for an individual student, these must be kept with the test book. A PDF version of the test items are available from the DAC, if needed.
