2 ENABLING OBJECTIVES Be able to advise TSM’s on taking PTDY/Excess leave Recognize Eligibility Distinguish differences between Reservist/Active duty Element 34 MILPERSMAN

3 Involuntary Honorable separations including Fleet reserve/Retirees
Who is eligible? Involuntary Honorable separations including Fleet reserve/Retirees HYT separatees Disability retirees Element 34 MILPERSMAN

4 Medical separations Discharge for medical reasons may be eligible as long as they have separation orders and can complete the PTDY prior to Approved separation date This includes Temporary and Permanent Disability Retired list (TDRL/PDRL) Element 34 MILPERSMAN

5 Reservist 20 years or TDRL/PDRL Full time active duty (FTS)
Element 34 MILPERSMAN

6 HOW LONG CAN I GO PTDY? TSM’s stationed CONUS may receive days depending on if they are involuntary separated or retired TSM’s stationed OCONUS may receive and additional 10 days for a max of 20 days for involuntary separatees or 30 days for retirees Element 34 MILPERSMAN

7 FUN FACTS REGARDING PTDY
Taking PTDY cannot be combined with Liberty weekends or holidays to extend duration Can be taken in increments Can be taken in conjunction with chargable leave including terminal PTDY are no cost orders May be taken with cost TAD before or after the funded TAD function Element 34 MILPERSMAN

8 FUN FACTS CONTINUED May use “space available military travel”*
Retiring TSM’s may use funded separation orders in conjunction with PTDY and is processed after the separation activity OCONUS dependants may utlilize “space available” travel for ONE round trip to first CONUS destination wither with TSM or by themselves Command has approval authority Element 34 MILPERSMAN

9 REVIEW Eligible TSM’s may utilize PTDY travel to aid in searching for a job and/or house provided the command supports the billet gap, and the member is separating honorably involuntarily Element 34 MILPERSMAN
