2 Definition Imperialism: the policy in which stronger nations extend their economic, political, or military control over weaker territories. So in other words….picking on the weak and taking them over then profiting off of it, but who are the weak???

Competing with other countries economically and militarily. More= Better Racism Social Darwinism- survival of the fittest Moral responsibility: Christianize and westernize (modernize)

Thirst for new markets New Technology=more goods=need to sell more Desire for military strength Alfred T. Mahan-Sea Power Belief in Anglo-Saxon Superiority Social Darwinism + racial superior + moral responsibility= U.S. is better and should make others more like it.
