2 Pet Ownership Today we are going to discuss the responsibilities of owning a pet. Responsibilities include feeding and providing the animal with the appropriate size and type of living space that it needs, not just to survive but to thrive in our homes! We’ll start our discussion with dogs.

3 Pet Ownership - Dogs Who owns or knows someone who owns a pet dog?
Is it an adult or a puppy? Describe your experience with a partner. Also, discuss how feeding and providing a living space compares between an adult dog and a puppy.

5 Puppies and Adult Dogs Compare the puppy to the adult dog in picture on the left. Then compare the puppy to the adult dog in the picture on the right. What do you notice? Share with your partner.

9 Food & Habitat How might the growth of our dog impact how much food and what type and size of area it needs to live? Do you think this also true for other pets like turtles, cats, birds, and fish? Why or why not?

Now we are going to talk about turtles and how their growth has an impact on their habitat requirements.

11 Turtle Habitat Who has owned or ever wanted to own a turtle?
If not, what about another reptile such as a lizard, frog, or snake? Let’s compare the types of turtles and their habitats. Keep this question in mind: How do the habitats of turtles compare to other pets like dogs, cats, birds, and fish?
