7. Burns Background Information
Burns are injuries that damage and kill skin cells, and are most commonly caused by exposure to flames, hot objects, hot liquids, chemicals, radiation or a combination of these.
Scalds are caused by contact with wet heat such as boiling fluids or steam.
Electrical burns are less common, but have the potential to be more serious as the depth of the burn is usually greater than is apparent, and heart irregularities may occur.

8. Degree of Burns
First-degree burns are red and painful. They swell a little. They turn white when you press on the skin. The skin over the burn may peel off after 1 or 2 days.
Thicker burns, called second-degree burns, have blisters and are painful. The skin is very red or splotchy, and it may swell a lot.
Third-degree burns cause damage to all layers of the skin. The burned skin looks white or charred. These burns may cause little or no pain because the nerves in the skin are damaged.

9. How long does it take for burns to heal?
First-degree burns usually heal in 3 to 6 days.

Second-degree burns usually heal in 2 to 3 weeks.

10. If you are on Fire… Stop, Drop and Roll
Stop - The fire victim must stop still. Ceasing any movement which may fan the flames or hamper those attempting to put the fire out.
Drop - The fire victim must 'drop' to the ground, lying down if possible, covering their face with their hands to avoid facial injury.
Roll - The fire victim must roll on the ground in an effort to extinguish the fire by depriving it of oxygen. If the victim is on a rug or one is nearby, they can roll the rug around themselves to further extinguish the flame.
The effectiveness of stop, drop and roll may be further enhanced by combining it with other firefighting techniques, including the use of a fire extinguisher, dousing with water, or fire beating.

Isaac and his mates where riding their motorbikes.
Roy makes a huge jump and encourages Isaac to do the same. Isaac attempts the jump but falls off when he lands.
