A handy teaching resource based on the popular 80’s TV quiz ‘Blockbusters.’
Instructions:
To play simply run the slide show. Each time you click on a hexagon it will change colour in the following sequence: Blue, Yellow, Black and then back to white again.
Rules:
For those who’ve never seen it, basically the object of the game is to link one side of the board with the other by creating an unbroken path of adjacent hexagons in your team’s colour. This is achieved by choosing a letter and then answering the question correctly. Eg “What D is a four legged pet often known as ‘Man’s best friend’?” The first team to buzz in with the correct answer gets the hexagon coloured their team’s colour and gets to choose the next letter for the next question. If they get the answer wrong the other team have an opportunity to steal the hexagon by answering correctly. If both teams fail to answer correctly then the hexagon becomes blank and the host chooses a new letter for the next question.
Customising:
To edit the letters, come out of the slide show and alter them above. Change them numbers, words, punctuation marks, mathematical symbols, whatever you fancy really! You may need to adjust the font size slightly for longer words. L G
