2. WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT SOCIAL WORK IN A MENTAL HEALTH SETTING? Social Work is a secondary function in the Mental Health setting (as is social work in a medical setting, educational setting or criminal justice setting) The primary goal of the Mental Health setting is to help stabilize the individuals mental and emotional health.
