#1 Five Lies Five Truths “I should be the center of the universe” (self-centered)-- God-centered Eccl. 12:13 III. Five Truths A. God-centered (vs self-centered) 1. Eccl. 12:13 to know God, fear God, obey God (inward, outward) should be my focus 2. In our use of technology, God must be the center of my use of it and habits a. anything sinful is too much b. what is it helping me do? Of all my uses, how many are important to God? c. what is it preventing me from doing? Am I forgetting to (know ppl, pray, read Bible, call x) b/c of it? B. Offered blessings (vs deserve happiness) 1. Ps. 1:1-2 You cannot always be blessed and happy---which is more important to God? you? 2. When hospitality feels like a “have to,” instead of a “want to”—do it anyway, knowing that the blessings are not always visible (1 Pet. 5:8; Heb. 13:1). C. Choices are offered by those in authority (vs must have choices) 1. Eccl. 3:1ff God has filled life with choices and did not ask whether we like what is available 2. Josh. 24:15 God gave parents authority to lead and to train children in how to make God-pleasing choices (work, obey > fun) and here children learn that many times, choices are a privilege, not a right. D. Jesus has all authority over us (vs I am my own authority) 1. Mt. 28:18 all man is responsible to submit to Jesus 2. Any “rights” our government offers, must be confirmed by our King a. “right to” abortion, gamble, begin or end viewing someone as our spouse b. not every government offers people the “right” assemble to worship, talk about politics and religion—give thanks to God and pray for all leaders. E. Fear of the Lord is beginning, foundation of knowledge 1. Prov. 1:8 2. What can we do with technology, if that knowledge is founded in the fear of the Lord? a. View it as a gift to be used to benefit others---offer encouragement every day to someone different (phone call, , text, travel in comfort to their house to show by your time they are important to you)—who? bulletin b. Use our website c. Produce as many of these cards as we are willing to pass out for pennies each.
