The Challenge Ahead Long Range Plans to 2040 and Beyond ? Rapid Technological Change Automated – Connected – Electric – Shared = + Smartphone adoption more than doubled in just five years ( ) from 35% to 77% By 2030… – All new energy will be provided by solar or wind. – All new mass-market vehicles will be electric. – The car market will shrink by 80%. – Gasoline will be obsolete. Nuclear is already obsolete. Natural Gas and Coal will be obsolete. – highways will not be needed. – parking spaces will not be needed. – concept of individual car ownership will be obsolete.
