Maths Homework (Maths with Parents) Cornerstones Topic Homework
Year 4C Summer Term 1 Class Wren Newsletter Welcome back! I hope you have had a lovely Easter holiday and have eaten lots of chocolate! Blue Abyss Grab your wetsuit! We’re going deep into an underwater world of incredible coral and mysterious creatures. Why not head over to your local aquarium and learn about life in the ocean? We will be exploring and observing aquatic life whilst finding out about the different species that live in the depths of the world’s seas and oceans. We will watch and draw different creatures in a sketchbook. We’ll travel even deeper into our seas by looking at what real divers do and how deep-sea submarines withstand great pressure and travel to the deepest and darkest of places. We will also look at David Attenborough’s Blue Planet and use this to write and present our very own documentary about different sea creatures. Flippers on? Snorkels ready? Let’s head into the Blue Abyss… Maths Homework (Maths with Parents) Maths homework will now be available to access online via this link: There will be a range of different mathematical activities for your children to do over a fortnight period. The activities all come with a video link to show you and your child what to do and what method to use. If you haven’t signed up yet or need help, please ask Miss Croft or Mrs Sisson in Year 6. Spellings Thank you for all your hard work with supporting your child with their spellings. This will continue into Term 5 where the children will be tested every Friday. Cornerstones Topic Homework New homework will be given out shortly for this topic, with a list of exciting things to do at home. Children can bring their homework into school to share with the class and receive a well done dot. We had some great pieces over the year but I think this will be the best one yet. Reading & Bug Club In Key Stage 2, we ask that the children read to someone at home every day for 5 minutes. The reading may consist of a variety of texts; from novels, to recipes, newspapers and even football programmes! Don’t forget reading on Bug Club also counts as home reading! Bug Club puts more emphasis on comprehension skills as, ultimately, this is what children are assessed against at the end of Key Stage 2. The children have to answer the questions, by clicking the little bugs, which Miss Croft can see. Guided Reading will happen every day for KS2. Miss Croft will also allocate their guided reading books on Bug Club under the tab, comprehension.
