Primary Newsletter – Friday 27th April 2018
OUTSTANDING LEARNING Kia and Safiya have demonstrated outstanding learning this week by independently writing fantastic fact files, using great punctuation and lovely adjectives. Keziah, Janique and Zinab in year 5 have demonstrated outstanding learning this week through their work on calculating perimeters of different shapes. The children in year 3 demonstrated outstanding learning during their still life work. They used pastels to show light and dark by blending colours together. GRUFFALO MORNING Last Friday we held a Gruffalo morning for potential new starters to our reception this September. If you have a child who has been offered a reception place, please be reminded that you have until the 30th April to accept. If you need support with this, please do contact the main reception and we will be happy to help. For those families who accept their place, we are planning two further events in the Summer term. On the 6th June, we have a welcome meeting followed by a ‘Mini MasterChef’ workshop, and on the 4th July, we will have a stay and play session for the children and a first aid workshop for parents. MIND TO BE KIND This term we have launched a project called A Mind to be Kind. The aim of the project is to develop a culture where kindness, without an expectation of reward, becomes a way of life for the whole school community. By doing so, it is hoped that giving and receiving kindness becomes normal and the school will be a happier, calmer and more productive place for everyone. This week your child may have been given a challenge related to kindness to do over the week. Please talk to your child about this, encourage them and see if it could be used at home as well. END OF THE DAY Please be reminded that at the end of the day when you leave the premises, only the pedestrian gate at the front of the academy should be used and not the vehicle entrance. It is a very busy time of the day, and staff and visitors are still coming in and out of school in vehicles. We want to keep all of our children and families safe. Please also be reminded that parents and carers do not have access to our car park unless an application has been made and accepted because of a disability.

We must grow in love and knowledge of Him and His teachings - we should become His disciples or followers. If we separate ourselves from Jesus, we will not be able to grow in our faith. Christ uses the idea of a vine to help us understand how important it is to have God abide, or live in our hearts. Class of the Week.
