Old Testament, and would be carried on throughout the
Jesus continued God’s trend of speaking out against false prophets that began in the Old Testament, and would be carried on throughout the New Testament; for the protection of God’s people.

Matthew 7: 15-20 Vs. 16: All will be recognized by “fruit”
Grapes versus thorn bushes Vs. 17: Every good tree bears good fruit Vs. 18: Bad trees can’t bear good fruit Vs. 19: Bad trees are cut down/burned
5
Because of our own sinful nature,
we make things bad… even good things. Humans have repeatedly shown the inclination to corrupt and distort all that God has originally created as good.
6
God to simply iron out a few “issues”
We do not need God to simply iron out a few “issues” in our life… and then return back to running it ourself. We need A NEW LIFE, regenerated and renewed by Him!
7
Matthew 12:33 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good,
or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.”
8
Luke 6:45 “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.”
9
Proverbs 4:23 Galatians 5: 22-23
“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” Galatians 5: 22-23 “The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
10
Matthew 3: 8 & 10 8 “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance…
10 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
11
“Recognizable Fruit” 1.) Being humble/teachable
2.) God’s Word has “veto power” over your feelings and opinions on an issue. 3.) You sacrifice for others, not using them selfishly. 4.) Quick to extend grace, rather than getting upset.

“Our world, even with all its confusion and wildness, is a world where the battle goes ultimately to the good, who live happily ever after… and where in the long run everybody, good and evil alike, becomes known by his true name.” - Frederick Buechner
