Develop your ability to do a tonal drawing Develop your ability to draw accurately Learn about architecture What I’m looking for… The tonal architecture image should show accuracy of form and tonal depth and variation. The page on architecture should be interesting and informative showing good research skills.

Watch a teacher demonstration to see how to produce a tonal pencil drawing of a dome or skyline.
First draw faint outlines of the image to allow for accuracy. Then add tone to the image.

Check which colour sticker you have on your progression sheet:
Go to the area in the classroom where you see that colour chart and select one of the skylines or domes. 40 minutes Go back to your place and draw the image so that it is the same size as the postcard. Draw faint outlines to get the proportions right with your HB pencil then add tone. Use your 2B to add darker tones and your rubber to add highlights 11

PREP.WORK Produce a research page based on Architecture:
1) Access the Art and Design department VLE homepage to see the example. 2) Include a definition of architecture. Include a brief history about architecture Add at least 6 images of famous architecture and include their names/titles.

5 minutes Turn to the back of your sketchbook and thinking about the learning objectives from the start of the lesson, tick each statement that you feel confident you have learnt. Now at the right-hand side, write down one specific thing that you have learnt today that you didn’t know before.
