1 Welcome Parents Our th Grade Field Trip to Philadelphia & Valley Forge Wed. through Fri., May 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 2018

2 Chaperones All Chaperones are SMS staff members who are volunteering their time. One chaperone per ten students. Students generally room in groups of four.

3 Departure and Return Times
Arrive at school between 5:30 and 5:40 am on Wednesday. We will return about 9:00 pm on Friday. We will encourage your child to call home about one hour before we arrive. Please Pick Up Promptly!

4 Dress Code - Girls Jeans, Capris or Khakis
Nice tops, small logos on shirts are OK. Collars not required. Sweatshirts are jackets, not shirts Footwear must meet normal school rules No yoga pants, leggings, jeggings or sweatpants No Shorts No T-Shirts No Ripped Jeans Exceptions for Our Social

5 Dress Code - Boys Pants – jeans, khakis or khaki joggers
Collared shirts - Polo shirts are fine Sweatshirts are jackets, not shirts No shorts No t-shirts No hats indoors No ripped jeans Footwear must meet normal school rules Exceptions for our Social

6 Packing 1 suitcase 1 carry-on (backpack) Practical footwear
Prepare for all weather conditions An extra pair of shoes is a smart idea Snacks are OK Girls can carry a purse

7 Snacks for the Bus and Hotel
Fruit, water Candy, chips Beverages only in plastic screw top re-sealable bottles No energy drinks No pixie sticks Remember, they’ll go quickly!

8 No Peanuts, Tree Nuts or Pineapple! (Watch out for trail mixes)

9 Spending Money Students supplement the meal allowances on their own
Meals are purchased at food courts and cafeterias Museum Gift Shops – more expensive Souvenir Shops – less expensive $75 - $100 is probably sufficient

10 Medical Issues We are traveling with a Registered Nurse.
Each bus has at least one adult certified in First Aid. Medications must be dropped off at school at specified times. All medications must be in their original containers. Send only the quantity that is needed for the trip.

11 Medical Issues (continued)
Even non prescription medications must have a doctors order. This includes all over the counter medications. For example: Allergy tablets Motion sickness medications Herbal supplements Ibuprofen/Advil Tums, Pepto etc.

12 Cell Phones Phones are off or in airplane mode at most times during the trip. Students will be asked to call home at specific times. No texting or social media while we are away except on the way to Philadelphia and on the way home Friday.

13 Electronics Music (w/headphones) and portable games are fine.
They must be off when we are touring or giving instructions!

14 Photographs Most places allow pictures. Students will be told when they aren’t allowed Students may not post images of staff or other students without their knowledge and approval

15 Wyndham Hotel, Bucks County in Trevose, PA
Our home for two nights. Arrive late Wednesday and depart early Friday. Breakfast on Thursday and Friday mornings. Four students per room. Gratuities for hotel staff are prepaid. Students have no access to the hotel pool.

16 Hotel Security Boys and Girls are on separate floors.
Chaperone rooms are nearby. Security guards are on duty overnight. Chaperones are always available. Students may not leave their rooms after their chaperones check them in, except for emergencies.

17 Meals Wednesday Day 1 Breakfast at home
Possible bathroom and snack stop in route. ($ not provided) Lunch –The Redding Terminal Market ($ allowance provided) Dinner – Dinner at the Hard Rock Café.

18 Meals Thursday – Day 2 Breakfast – buffet at the hotel
Lunch – National Constitution Center Cafeteria ($ allowance provided) Dinner – City Hall Tower and Observation Deck Food Court ($ allowance provided)

19 Meals Friday – Day 3 Breakfast – Buffet at the Hotel
Lunch – At the Bourse Dinner – King of Prussia Mall Food Court in Valley Forge (allowance provided) Snack and bathroom stop on the way home (no $ provided)
