2 Militarism As pride and Europe’s desire to prove its pride grew, so did their militaries. They needed larger and larger militaries to back up their mouths.

Imperialism Way to prove importance was through Imperial possessions. Europe wanted to protect status. European countries often clashed over who really controlled certain areas.

7 Nationalism Europe developed pride in their countries- not just a leader. As their pride increased, so did their desire to prove their pride was justified.

8 Germany was growing into an economic powerhouse.
Economics Germany was growing into an economic powerhouse. Britain felt threatened. Germany felt the others did not give them respect.
