2 What is the space survey?
The Space Inventory Survey is a module of the FM:Interact Space Management System accessible through a web interface, based on CAD floor plans which track space on the Denton & Frisco campuses. 168 buildings 20,221 rooms 7.3M square feet

3 Why must we do the survey?
Impacts UNT’s Legislative State appropriations Determines amount of HEF received (Higher Education Funds) Qualifies UNT for TRBs (Tuition Revenue Bonds) for new buildings F&A (Facilities and Administrative) Federal funding for research space

4 Annual Space Survey is Required by:
State and Federal Government Space Management & Assignment Policy (11.002) Research Space Policy (11.011) All units on campus are responsible for accurately reporting assigned rooms according to State and federal codes, regulations, and laws on an annual basis and is administered by OSMP. Responsible Party: Total University; OSMP

5 Who must complete the survey?
All academic and non-academic departments and units on campus, including auxiliary and athletics Respondent (e.g., space representative) Approver (e.g., department chair, dean, director, VP) Certifier (OSMP and President)

6 Deadline for completing and approving the survey is Friday, March 30!
When is the survey due? Resist procrastination & allow plenty of time! Collect data Enter data room-by-room Approval process Deadline for completing and approving the survey is Friday, March 30! (delinquent surveys are reported to VP area of responsibility and President)

7 Where is this information found?
Floor Plans (CAD drawings) Faculty (grants, occupants, research equipment ˃$1M) Survey Resources (osmp.unt.edu/space-survey) User’s Guide Jump Drive CIP Codes (Classification of Instructional Programs) Space Use Codes (e.g., office, lab, conference room, etc.) Function Codes (e.g., education, research, student services, administrative, etc.)

8 Required Survey Data What type of room is it?
Which department or unit is the room assigned? CIP Code (may have up to 3 CIP codes per room) (e.g., Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Student Financial Aid, Basketball, Food Service, Custodial Services, etc.) What type of room is it? Space Use Code (only 1 Space Use code allowed) (e.g., office, laboratory, conference room, etc.) How is the room used? Function Code (may have up to 3 Function codes per room) (e.g., teaching, research, auxiliary, administrative, etc.) Who are the occupants of the room? Employee Name and emplid (may have 0 to multiple faculty, staff, and/or students)

9 Research Space All Research Space must be prorated by:
Grant/Project # Principal Investigators (PIs) Function & CIP codes And must include the following (if applicable): Research equipment (˃$1M)
