A. Eyepiece Ocular lens 10 X magnification K. ARM Used to SUPPORT the microscope when carried Body Tube Connects the eyepiece to the objectives. B. Nosepiece Holds the LOW, MEDIUM & HIGH power objective LENSES; can be rotated to change MAGNIFICATION. J. COARSE ADJUSTMENT KNOB Moves the stage up and down for FOCUSING 1st use this KNOB C. OBJECTIVE LENSES Magnification ranges from 4X to X to X red yellow blue 10X4= X10= X40=400 I. FINE ADJUSTMENT KNOB Moves the stage slightly to SHARPEN the image 2nd use this KNOB D. STAGE CLIPS HOLD the slide in place H. DIAPHRAGM Regulates the amount of LIGHT on the specimen E. STAGE Supports the SLIDE being viewed F. LIGHT SOURCE Projects light UPWARDS through the diaphragm, the SPECIMEN, and the LENSES G. BASE Supports the MICROSCOPE

Power = 10 x 4 = 40 Power = 10 x 10 = 100 Power = 10 x 40 = 400
