Writing: Literary Analysis using the Jane Schaeffer method: Topic Sentence + Concrete Detail (Evidence/Quote/Fact) + Commentary (Explain/Idea) x2 + Opportunities for creative writing and expression

Grading: Writing % Analysis % Grammar and Vocabulary 10% Academic Skills % Standards-based grading allows you to see which areas your student needs to work on. Late Work will receive a 0 for "timely work" grade, but can be submitted for all other credit IF the student speaks to me within a week AND attaches a late work slip the work is still relevant. After one week, the work may not be accepted and can receive no higher than a 70. Major assignments may receive a x2 multiplier HW/CW may receive a x.5 multiplier Many assignments receive a grade in multiple categories. EX: Analysis Paragraph or Essay 1. WR-- Writing (format/style) 2. GR-- Grammar(1-2 specific skills demonstrated) 3. AN-- Analysis (of literary devices) 4. TW and OP-- Academic Skills (timely work, MLA, neatness)
