Ratification Fight In order for the constitution to legal 9 of 13 states had to ratify it. The Federalists favored ratification The Anti-Federalists opposed.

Two main objections: 1. increased power of the central government
2. Lack of a Bill of Rights

On June 21, 1788 New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify the constitution.
Ratification in Virginia and New York gave the Constitution legitimacy. The Federalist

September 13, 1788 With 11 of 13 states on board the new government moves forward.
On April 6th, 1789 George Washington was elected president and John Adams was elected Vice-president.
