of opening up of sector.
Currently there are 24 players in the Life Insurance Industry.
21 life Insurance companies have JV’s with foreign partners.
LIC, Exide and Sahara Life Insurance company are the 3 companies who do not have JV’s.
All the major International players are present in the Indian Insurance market.
A high capital intensive industry-Rs. 34,847 Cr deployed to support AUM of Rs. 25,28,682 Cr.

Life insurance penetration in India has dropped significantly from 4.6 % in to 2.60% in 2015.
