Provide for the congregation what to expect from their located preacher. Aid in holding the located preacher accountable before God. Aid in holding the located preacher accountable to himself. Aid in holding the located preacher accountable to the congregation.

3 Biblical Expectations
2 Timothy 2:2, 24b; 4:5, Take the necessary steps to ensure that other men are able to preach the gospel. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23, Be all things to all people, in order to save some. 2 Timothy 2:19-23, Avoid foolish teachings, foolish disputes, and gossip. 2 Timothy 2:23-26, No quarreling, but be patient and humble, correct in humility. 2 Timothy 4:1-5, Preach the word; for edification.

4 Biblical Expectations
2 Timothy 2:14-16, Give diligence to show yourself approved, rightly dividing the word of truth. Titus 1:5, Appointment of elders. 1 Timothy 5:20-21, Rebuke sinners without prejudice or partiality. 1 Timothy 5:1-2, Teach and exhort older and younger men and women as necessary. Eph. 6:17-20; Col. 4:2-4; 2 Thess. 3:1, Pray for (and take advantage of) opportunities to spread the gospel.

5 Expectations for the Located Preacher
This lesson hopefully helps to… Provide for the congregation what to expect from their located preacher. Aid in holding the located preacher accountable before God. Aid in holding the located preacher accountable to himself. Aid in holding the located preacher accountable to the congregation. Hopefully, we can also see where many of these admonitions aren’t limited to the located preachers.

You must hear/read the gospel of Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:14,17). You must believe in Jesus Christ (Acts 16:30-33). You must repent of all of your past sins (Acts 17:30-31). You must confess your faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 8:35-37). You must be baptized (immersed in water) into Jesus Christ (Acts 8:38; 22:16). After becoming saved, you must live a faithful/righteous life to remain saved (1 Tim. 4:16; 1 Jn. 1:7). Eternal life in heaven awaits only those who are faithful/righteous (1 Pet. 1:3-5; Mt. 25:34).

7 1 Peter 3:21-22 (NKJV) “There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.”
