The Christian in Worship: (2:8-15) Responsibilities for Men: 3. How? “Lifting holy hands” -Not posture but the person. -Holy Hands – a pure life. To be like God, separate, unpolluted. “I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarrelling.”

The Christian in Worship: (2:8-15) Responsibilities for Men: 3. How? “without anger” -Mark 3:5 – not always sinful. -Matthew 5:21-24 (expressed wrongly, grudge, revenge, reconcile refusing). “I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarrelling.”

Christian in Worship (1 Tim. 2:8-15) Responsibilities for Women: (2:9-10) “Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly attire (10) but with what is proper for women who profess godliness –with good works.” TEXT: “respectable” – well arranged. “modest” – sense of shame, bashfulness, reverence, regard for others. Disgust for the dishonorable.

Immoral? 2. Distracting from God? 3. Drawing attention to self. 4. Flaunting wealth?

Questions to Consider:
1. Is it wrong to look nice or fashionable? 2. Why do I wear what I wear? -bring attention to my body? -flaunt wealth? - “out-do” others? -distracting? -Seeking to honor God by the way I dress? -Consistent with the person God wants me to be? 3. Can I fix my hair or wear jewelry? 4. Just worship or beyond?
