Effects of Sound SPI Identify the effect of sound within context (i.e., onomatopoeia, alliteration, rhythm, rhyme, repetition).

Onomatopoeia Describes descriptive sounds that something makes. Such as 'buzz', 'bang', or 'boom'

Alliteration is the repetition of the initial consonant. There should be at least two repetitions in a row. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.

Rhythm the repetition in a literary work of phrase, incident, character type, or symbol

Rhyme is a repetition of identical or similar sounds in two or more different words and is most often used in poetry and songs

Repetition of a sound, syllable, word, phrase, line, stanza, or metrical pattern is a basic unifying device in all poetry
