Signposting nationally agreed guidance including from NICE
Utilising external evidence and organisational knowledge: opportunities The Idea: Alerting teams and individuals to national guidance to enable rapid adoption of national guidance Specialist librarians ensuring all teams and individuals are aware of updated and newly issued national guidance Integration of latest national guidance with local protocols In some organisations it may be possible to link this to clinical information systems Impact: Reduce risk of patient harm by rapid adoption of evidence based guidance Improve the patient experience by ensuring care pathways are aligned to the latest evidence based guidance Ensure all individuals in a team stay up-to-date by being aware of any changes in practice as a result of changes in guidance Implementation tips: Request an alert from your specialist health librarian to stay up-to-date with the latest national guidance Ask your specialist health librarian to produce a regular bulletin of latest guidance When reviewing care pathways ensure you are referring to the latest guidance by asking your specialist health librarian for a literature search Work with your specialist health librarian to find solutions to implement national guidance - Case Study: Improving access to information for children and young people For further information see the KM Toolkit
