2. Objectives

3. Step 1: Entitlement Application
Complete the entitlement application
Your primary address should be your UIC address.
Be truthful when answering questions.
If you need to answer yes, it does not mean you cannot be licensed.
If you are not truthful, your license can be revoked.
Do not apply for your license on your own through ELIS!
Doing so could significantly delay the licensure process.

4. Step 2: ELIS Account
Make sure your Education Licensure Information System (ELIS) account has been set up.
Visit Click on “Teachers”. Then, click the “log in to ELIS” button. Under Educator Access, click “Login to your ELIS account”.
If you have logged in before, enter your log in credentials on the left side of the page.
If you are creating an account, click “CLICK HERE FOR FIRST TIME ACCESS TO THE ELIS SYSTEM”.

5. Step 3: Confirm Requirements
Check that all internal requirements have been completed.
Test of Basic Skills (ACT/SAT/TAP)
Coursework
Fieldwork
Content Test (184: School Social Worker)
Intent to Graduate
Make sure that your Test of Basic Skills and Content Test results are in your ELIS account.

6. Step 4: Send Transcripts to ISBE
Near the end of the semester, request your transcripts (with degree posted) to be sent to:
Educator Licensure Division
100 N First St S-306
Springfield IL
Send transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.
If electronic versions are not available, original transcripts must be sent in a sealed envelope to the address listed above.

7. Step 5: Entitlement
You will be entitled to the license after your degree has posted.
Typically, spring entitlements are completed by mid-June.
Do NOT apply on your own through ELIS!

8. Step 6: Register License
After you have been entitled, you will receive an from me.
At this time, log in to your ELIS account.
Under summary information, you will see a message: “You have been entitled by your institution. Apply for your credentials.”
Click on this and follow the step-by-step process.
The $100 application fee may be paid by credit card only.
There is a $1.75 convenience fee.
You will receive a confirmation from ISBE.
A hard copy of your license will not be provided.
Register your license even if you are not currently teaching.
Licenses MUST be registered to be valid!
