Unitary
A form of government in which power flows from the central government to the local government. The central government has the ultimate power.
Confederation
A form of government in which power flows from the local governments to the central government. The local governments have ultimate power. Membership is voluntary in a confederation. Members of a confederation are often trying to achieve a common goal.
Federal
A form of government in which power is divided between one central and several regional authorities - power is shared between various levels of government

Autocratic
A form of government in which one person has unlimited power. The citizens do not participate in government. Examples of this form of government include dictatorships and absolute monarchies.
Oligarchic
A form of government in which a small group has the power. The citizens do not participate in government.
Democratic
A form of government in which the people have the power. Citizens participate in government by electing governmental leaders.

Presidential
