1 Psalm 119:97-99 (NKJV)  97 Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. 99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation.

2 Satan Has A Plan Psalm 119:97-99
Satan has a goal…he wants to keep us out of heaven Satan has an obstacle...God’s word God’s word gives us instruction on how to acheive eternal life II Timothy 3:15 – “...Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” James 1:21 – “...receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls” God’s word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path – Ps. 119:105 In our conflict with Satan, it is our sword – Eph. 6:17; Heb. 4:12 Satan is faced with the problem of what to do with God’s word

3 Deny and Doubt It Genesis 3:1-6 v. 1 – created doubt v. 4 – he denied God’s word v. 5 – he creates an alternative to God’s word (how many times do we see this today?) Denial and doubt lead to disobedience II Timothy 3:16-17 – All scripture is God breathed, so we cannot let Satan fool us into thinking that it is not Acts 13:44-45 – The Jews contradicted and opposed God’s word being spoken Hebrews 4:2 – Our hearing of the word of God must be mixed with faith

4 2. Try to get you to “lose” it (or forsake it)
II Kings 22:8, 11, 13 We see the consequences if we lose it Some “lose it” by not studying 3 ways he will try to get us to lose it 1. Through worldliness – II Kings 21:9; Jn. 3:19-21; Gal. 5:19-21 2. Through compromise – Rev. 2:14-16 (Compromising Church) 3. Through neglect – II Tim. 2:15; Heb. 5:11-12; II Pet. 3:16-18 We cannot afford to lose the word of God in our lives

5 3. Make it void through the traditions of men
When men begin following their own traditions rather than God’s word, the Bible loses it’s significance This is what the Pharisees had done – Matthew 15 II Peter 2:1-2 I John 4:1; Acts 17:11 – All things must be tested We need this attitude – I Thess. 2:13; II Tim. 1:13

6 4. Crowd it out of our lives
This is done through the cares of the world, materialism, and desiring for other things Mark 4:19 – Seed among thorns Could happen through a hardened heart – Matt. 13:13-15 Could happen through hypocrisy (play church) Matthew 23:2-3 – Say and do not do (Pharisees) Luke 6:46 – “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” We should never say one thing and do another Satan wants us to think that God’s word is a dead letter He wants us to think that it is not relevant today, that it’s outdated I Peter 1:22-25 – The word of the Lord endures forever!
