What are the First Year Results?
118 schools – 10,032 students Important Teacher outcomes: 90% rated the quality of the visits as high or very high; 88% rated the materials as high or very high; 97% would recommend the visits to others. Important Volunteer outcomes: 100% judged the quality of materials as high or very high; 94% rated the quality of the training as high or very high. Important Student outcomes: Statistically significant gains in understanding that math is important Statistically significant gains in understanding the types of STEM careers available to them Statistically significant gains in understanding the steps needed to pursue STEM careers Increased interest in joining math, science, and computer-related clubs and participating in such activities as science fairs, etc. 154 Volunteers – 23% minority; 41% female; 18% - engineering sector

What is The DIGITS Project?
An innovative and interactive program designed to increase the interest of sixth graders in STEM subjects and careers– a goal shared by TEC and TECET. 18 month development cycle produced a kid-friendly, engaging logo, an array of branded elements, and a corps of STEM volunteers – TEC was involved from Day One in this first-ever cross-discipline STEM effort - Abbie served on the Executive Committee with representatives of software, telecom, biotech, medical device, and energy sectors. Supported by the Mass Dept of Elementary and Secondary Education (who would like to see this incorporated in state’s STEM Plan) and the Mass Association of School Superintendents.
