1 Score Ladders for PowerPoint

2 Score Ladders for PowerPoint
The following slides contain some ‘score ladders’ that can be copied into an existing PowerPoint presentation (versions 2003 or later). The idea is to give a tutor a mechanism to keep score between 2 or more teams, whilst they answer questions – every time a team gets a question correct their block moves up their ladder by the desired number of places. The resource works best if the slide transition is switched off, this prevents a user form accidentally advancing the presentation by clicking on the screen (e.g. if they ‘miss’ one of the cream coloured boxes) – to move forward a slide there is a button – this can be resized, moved, coloured etc or replaced with your own button. To use any of these slides it is easiest to copy the whole slide into your presentation, then delete any un-needed elements. If you are in the editing mode of PowerPoint, then there are some ‘notes’ for each slide in this presentation explaining how to use each slide.

The easiest way to use this resource, is to copy the entire slide into a different presentation - then delete any unwanted columns. The reason for this is that the slide transition has been switched off (this stops the tutor accidentally advancing a slide by missing one of the cream coloured blocks) - the button in the top right corner can be used to move forward a slide. This button can be repositioned, resized, reformatted etc If you want less than 10 blocks in your ladders – delete the top boxes from the ladders.

Answer A1 This slide is an example of question and answer boxes (maximum of 20) that can be combined with the score ladders to create ‘complete’ class quiz activities. The idea is that you edit the text so you replace the word Question with your relevant questions, and you replace the word answer with the relevant answers. You then delete any un-required question and answers boxes, and align them so they appear on the screen – to do this select all the question boxes and align bottom (Draw, Align or Distribute, Align Bottom) – then select all the answer boxes and align top (Draw, Align or Distribute, Align Top) – the highest question number should appear on top. To use the activity you click on the question box (not the text but the edge of the box) and it will reveal the answer – clicking on the answer box will then reveal the next question.
