Early Life October 17, 1915 Arthur had two siblings Graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School Family moved in 1929 Interested in sports like football, and baseball Miller was born in Harlem, New York City on October 17, 1915 to Jewish immigrant parents(Isidore and Augusta Miller). Older brother Kermit, younger sister Joan. Miller lived in Harlem until his family lost almost everything because of the Wall Street Crash of 1929, and was forced to move to the Upper Eastside of Manhattan in Brooklyn.

Adult Life Worked odd jobs to pay for his college tuition Attended the University of Michigan Married multiple times Four children Jobs: Auto part warehouse, delivered baked good for a bakery, truck driver, and a radio singer. He was rejected twice before he was accepted because he was seen more as a playwright than a student. Inge Morath, Marilyn Monroe, and Mary Grace Slattery.

Miller’s Accomplishments
He was given many different awards Married Marilyn Monroe Wrote many different plays through out his life Including 2 Emmy awards and 3 tony awards and many others. In 1956 he married Marilyn Monroe but in 1961 they divorced and shortly after he remarried. His most famous plays include “All my sons”, “Death of a salesman”, and “The Crucible”. He also wrote a novel Focus.

The Crucible It was an allegory It showed the fact that McCarthyism was doing the same thing they did in the Salem witch trials. An allegory is a story poem or picture that can be interpreted to have a different meaning. He wanted to show that McCarthyism and its hunt for communism was the same as the people of Salem against witches.

Late Life and death Later in his life he wrote plays about his past experiences Autobiography was published In 2002 his 3rd wife Inge died February 10th 2005 One included his last days of marriage to Marilyn Monroe. In 1987 his autobiography was published. When Inge died he soon became engaged to another woman a 34 year old painter by the name of Agnes Barly. February 10th 2005 Arthur Miller died from heart failure. It was the 56th anniversary of the play “Death of a Salesman” broad way premiere.
