Electronic Storefront A single company’s website where products or services are sold. The storefront may belong to a Manufacturer (e.g dell.com) Retailer (e.g. walmart) Individuals selling from home etc

Electronic Malls An online shopping center where many online stores are located. In addition to shopping at individual storefronts, consumers can shop in electronic malls (e-malls). Similar to malls in the physical world, an e-mall is an online shopping location where many stores are located. (e.g. Hawaii.com)

Types of Stores and Malls General stores/malls Specialized stores/malls Regional versus global stores Pure-play online organizations versus click and-mortar stores

Types of Stores and Malls General Stores/Malls These are large marketspaces that sell all types of products. e.g. Amazon.com.

Types of Stores and Malls Specialized stores/malls These sell only one or a few types of products, such as books, computers, or cars etc. Amazon.com started as a specialized e-bookstore but today is a generalized store. Dell.com is a specialized store as it sell computers and computer related gadgets only.

Types of Stores and Malls Regional Vs Global stores Some stores, such as e-grocers or sellers of heavy furniture, serve customers that live nearby. (e.g Parknshop.com) Some local stores will sell to customers in other countries if the customer will pay the shipping, insurance and other costs (e.g. hothothot.com)

Types of Stores and Malls Pure-play online organizations Vs Click-and-mortar stores Stores may be pure online (virtual) organizations They do not have physical stores. Others are physical (e.g. brick-and-mortar) stores that also sell online (e.g. walmart.com, woolworths.com.au)
