Any number that can be placed on a number line

3. irrational numbers
A real number that can NOT be made by dividing two integers

4. rational numbers
A real number that can be made by dividing two integers

5. integers
A positive or negative whole number, a number with no fractional or decimal part

6. whole numbers
The numbers {0,1,2,3,….} and so on

7. natural numbers
Counting numbers {1,2,3,…}

8. radical
An expression that has a square root, cube root, etc. The symbol is √

9. radicand
The value inside the radical symbol. The value you want to take the root of

10. Square root
A number that when multiplied by itself gives the value of the radicand

11. Cube root
A number that when multiplied by itself three times yields the radicand

12. Perfect square
A value made by squaring a whole number

13. Terminating decimal
A decimal that had digits that do not go on forever; a finite decimal

14. Repeating decimal
A decimal that has one or more digits that repeat infinitely

15. truncate
To shorten, round or cut off
