GARMIN 800 The Basics
3
Plan Your Route Map Your Ride Ride With GPS Some tips on mapping. Finish a circular route 30-50 feet away from the start. When plotting a route always click in road segments not at junctions. Allow some time between clicks to allow mapping program to work. Go around course to check all points are correct.
4
Download Your Route Once youve planned your route use the Export feature to save the route as a GPX track. GPX tracks work better than TCX tracks with Garmin 800.
5
Copy Your Route Onto The Edge 800 Plug the Edge 800 into your computer, wait for it to be recognized and then copy the GPX file you exported into the Garmin\NewFiles folder on the Edge 800. Some prefer to use the Garmin\NewFiles folder on the SD Card as it means that should the Edge 800 ever do a factory reset during a ride then at least your route will still be safe.

Go Ride! Very Important: For each new course before you press Go button make sure Configure settings are exactly like previous slide. Once youve done the above actually navigating a route is really simple, just select Menu, Courses, your course & hit the big green Go button. This will cause the Edge 800 to: 1.Overlay the route on the map page. 2.Give you turn-by-turn instructions. 3.Shreik and show Off Course if you stray off the route.
