What is Numeracy?
5
The Numeracy Assessment
The Graduation Numeracy Assessment is based on mathematical concepts learned across multiple subjects... with an emphasis on K–9. It is NOT a math exam! You don’t need to know the quadratic formula or cosine law for this! You will ALL write in last week of June! You will be assigned a day/time similar to provincial exams.
6
The Numeracy Assessment
This assessment is REQUIRED TO GRADUATE; it is NOT OPTIONAL. If you do not like your score, you have 2 more chances to write it next year (a total of 3 tries). You will have 2 hours plus an additional hour, for a total of 3 hours. The multiple choices on done on computer; the written responses are on paper. Four topics: Fair-Share, Planning, Estimation and Modelling
7
The Numeracy Assessment
Format: There are a total of 24 multiple choices and 2 written responses. 6MCs + 6MCs + 1WR + 6MCs + 6MCs + 1WR = 24MCs + 2 WRs (Here is the catch. Once you make a WR choice you can’t go back!) Topic 1 6MCs Topic 2 Topic 3 Topic 4 Choose Topic 1 or 2 1 WR Topic 3 or 4
