2 1. What does MSDS stand for and what is its purpose?
Answer: Material Safety Data Sheet. It is intended to provide workers and emergency personnel with procedures for handling or working with substances in a safe manner. It can usually be downloaded from Manufacturer’s site.

3 2. What are FRU and SRU units?
Answer: Field Replaceable Units and Shop Repairable Units.

4 3. What is a class C Fire extinguisher?
Answer: C stands for Current and it is designed for electrical equipment

5 4. What are the most dangerous parts of computer systems
Answer: Power Supply, CRT, Printers, CD/DVD ROM, Fiber Optic Cables

6 5. True/False: You should wear a grounding strap when handling all computer components.
Answer: False, You should not use a grounding strap when working with monitors, power supplies, laptop LCD panels, or other high-voltage components

7 6. What is a good humidity level for preventing ESD
Answer: 70%

8 7. Roughly how many volts should ESD be to be felt?
Answer: Around 3000 volts although ESD of 100 volts can damage electrical components

9 8. ESD is most likely to occur in a _____ and _____ Temperature
Answer: Cool and Dry

10 9. What is EMI, how it is created and how to prevent it
Answer: Electromagnetic Interference. It is caused by heavy machinery and motors… Use shielded twisted pair cabling as well as fiber optics.

11 10. What is RFI? Answer: Radio Frequency Interference affecting wifi by such devices such as wireless phone and speakers…

12 11. What is the difference between a power surge and a power spike?
Answer: Surge is an over voltage that lasts for second whereas a spike lasts for milliseconds.

13 12. What is the difference between a power sag and a Brownout?
Answer: a sag is an under voltage that lasts for milliseconds whereas a brownout lasts for seconds.

14 13. What is the difference between an online and offline UPS?
Answer: Online UPS powers the connected device from a battery whereas an offline UPS powers it from the wall outlet.

15 14. What computing device should not (usually) be connected to a UPS?
Answer: A printer. The startup of a print job requires a significant wattage which is beyond the capability of overwhelming majority of UPS systems.

16 15. What is the difference between a static shielded bag and a static resistant bag?
