As we emerge into this new world of Zero Emission Buses, we need to create room for a successful contract.

4. Contracting Leadership
Communication must be a two-way street
Both parties must be open and frank with each other
Build trust
If something new (like ZEB) is introduced mid-contract, anticipating all of the details may not be possible
Be flexible
Look to the bus vendor for help and assistance
Involve the contractor in this process as much as possible

5. Contract Traps
Absolute compliance without consideration to changing circumstances
“Telling” not communicating
Failure to openly discuss issues
Agency operations personnel not involved in contract modifications
Taking action too late when a problem arises
Audi, Volkswagen and Toyota are car companies testing their autonomous creations
