About The Group The Ayr Town Centre Steering Group was formed in August 2014. The group is comprised of individuals who represent Retailers, Business owners, Police Scotland, The Gaiety Theatre, Ayr Renaissance, Chamber of Commerce, South Ayrshire Council, Ayr Central and others…

About The Group The Ayr Town Centre Steering Group meet on a monthly basis and are keen to hear from Retailers and Business owners who believe they can positively contribute towards making Ayr a fantastic shopping and tourist destination.

Aims, Goals and Objectives….
The group is committed to supporting plans and proposals to improve the shopping experience within Ayr, as well as increasing footfall and working towards sculpting Ayr as ‘the’ shopping destination within Ayrshire.

Creation of a communications platform Allows Town Centre Businesses to communicate with each other, and to communicate directly with the Town Centre Steering Group Gives the Town Centre Businesses a voice to raise concerns and to talk freely about issues they feel are affecting them, and to create a dialogue in which everyone can be involved.

Current/Upcoming Projects…
Currently working with SAC Waste Management Department to install new bins throughout the Town Centre. Discussing ways in which the town centre waste collection from private service providers can be better managed to prevent commercial waste being present during peak times.

Tam O’ Shanter Festival, 31st October 2015: Ayr Town Centre Run it with a Bunnet Live re-enactment of Tam O’Shanter Scottish Market 18th Century Market Farmers Market Community Stage Traditional Stage Busking Stage Haunted History Tour Haunted House Alexander Goudie Exhibit Beer Tent and Wine Cart Corney & Barrow Cellar tour and wine tasting Puppet show Witches flash mob, there are six history tours Gaiety show in the evening For more details and sponsorship/advertising opportunities

Street Ambassadors With the summer season here and visitor numbers increasing, Summer Street Ambassadors would be an asset to the town. Recently, the group have been moving forward with the creation of these positions and they are currently being recruited.
